First ever Michelin-starred Jersey Royal Supper Club Launched in London
-Celebrating 140 years of Jersey Royals –
Last spring marked the 140th anniversary of Britain’s most prized potato, the Jersey Royal. To celebrate the arrival of the short seasonal window, April to June, Jersey Royals graced the London foodie scene with an intimate dining experience hosted by Michelin-starred Jersey chef, Mark Jordan and a market stall, selling freshly dug Jersey Royals.
Londoners will were able to get their hands on muddied Jersey Royals, in their three sizes, (from £3 / 0.5kgs) directly from Jersey farmers. Customers were able to enjoy the signature serve ‘Simply Minted’, a tantalising combination of Jersey butter, sea salt and fresh mint (£3 per portion) at Maltby Street Market over two weekends in April.
Considered by foodies and chefs as the ‘Champagne of the potato world’, the candlelit supper club highlighted Jersey Royals’ premium status and versatility with a four-course potato menu devised by Jersey’s celebrated chef, Mark Jordan.
Taking up residence at Maltby Street’s Lassco Bar & Dining, the dinner presented a snapshot of the tastes of Jersey, featuring seasonal ingredients with Jersey Royals starring at the centre of each dish and drink pairings by Lassco’s resident mixologist.
Mark Jordan said; “Having held a Michelin star for the last 12 years using purely Jersey produce, I’m so pleased to be bringing our wealth of ingredients to London for this special anniversary. Jersey Royals are iconic to the island of Jersey and always play a huge part in my menus, so I’m delighted to unveil a distinct menu dedicated to these exceptional potatoes.
The Michelin-starred dinner took place over two nights – Friday 20 & Saturday 21 April – at Lassco Bar & Dining on Maltby Street.
