This year, Jersey Royals launched a new initiative – Adopt a Row – a campaign bringing together local produce, community spirit and charitable giving, raising £1,900 for local food and nutrition charity Caring Cooks Of Jersey.
For the first time, Jersey Royal fans had the chance to adopt their very own row of Jersey Royals for £50 per row. The initiative saw 38 rows of Jersey Royals adopted, generating money to support islanders facing financial hardship through nutritious meals and food vouchers.
Over the Jersey Royal season, adopters will now follow their Jersey Royals from planting through to harvesting, with updates and imagery straight from the fields. In April, adopters will receive a 10kg bag of freshly harvested Jersey Royals delivered direct to their doorstep, a true field-to-fork experience.
Caring Cooks of Jersey Chief Executive Yvonne Corbin praised the scheme as “a brilliant initiative that brings together local produce, community support and charitable giving in a really accessible way.” She added that the charity was“delighted to be chosen as the beneficiary and hopes it will be something that Jersey Royals considers running again in the future.”
Jersey Royal Company Farm Director Adrian Baudains said: “This initiative gives our loyal customers a behind-the-scenes look at how Jersey Royals are grown and the chance to own a part of something special from the very beginning – all while helping to raise funds for a worthwhile local charity. It also celebrates the seasonality of fresh produce and the full journey from field to fork.”
What adopters receive:
• A gift pack including a welcome letter, personalised certificate and Jersey Royal recipe cards
• A personalised marker in the field identifying their adopted row
• Exclusive updates and videos throughout the growing season
• 10kg of freshly harvested Jersey Royals, delivered to their door in April, with sharing bags included
The Adopt a Row campaign demonstrates how Jersey Royals continue to connect people to seasonality, provenance and community, all while making a meaningful local impact.
